FAQs

  • Coaching can be held at your office, or one of the offices that Insightful Path uses. It could also, for your convenience, be held via Teams, Zoom, FaceTime or other means.

  • I hold a Level III accreditation from the Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership (IECL), and International Coaching Federation (ICF) Membership.

In addition to my continual research into coaching skills and frameworks, I also meet regularly with a coaching supervisor to help coach me on my coaching - ensuring a continual professional and effective service that I can deliver to you!

  • While coaching relationships are based on trust, coaching is designed to help you step outside of your comfort zone. While some coaching is only directed at near term pragmatic goals, most medium to longer term goals, and especially leadership coacding is usually underpinned by your sense of identity. To overcome these types of challenges will require your courage.

However, clients confirm that coaching with Insightful Path can give you the courage to step into your doubts, and into your best self, thus making your earnest approach to coaching worth it.

  • While both coaching and mentoring can help an individual develop their capability, the coaching approach James uses is based upon helping you identify the challenges and opportunities you didn’t realise you knew were ‘within’, and coaching you to unlock your potential.

Mentorship is a slightfy different relationship than a coaching one. And is, ideally, one that is offered pro-bono, with a genuine desire to help you to develop in your career.

  • While I am an experienced learning designer, trainer, and facilitator - a coaching conversation is not designed to ‘train’ you.

Coaching conversations may bring your awareness to a framework through which to understand an issue you raise. However the main goal is to help you unlock insights that you already posses, but have yet to concentrate on.

As a coach, I use a strengths based approach to identify the beliefs and habits that could either progress, or slow, your approach to your goals.

Topics for development are identified, and led by you, although I can make suggestions based upon my reseasch in the topics you want to explore. Many of my coaching counterparts have said that they gained practical benefits, and felt prepared to explore and practice the skills, habits and beliefs they explored in coaching with an increased sense of awareness.

James recently joined his friend and coaching colleague, Brendon Le Lievre, (founder of Hare Consulting) for a conversation covering the importance of finding your authentic self, the power of silence and the privilege of working in a sacred way to help others quieten the noise. In this conversation, they touched on listening with discernment instead of judgment, noticing physical changes as people speak and the power of being in service to others.
